Red Cross
National Library Week is celebrated this year during the week of April 11, 2010. This year's theme is "Communities thrive @ your library". Students are encouraged to check out books and enter our "Reading is Sweet" celebration that will culminate in a make your own sundae party on April 16, 2010
Communities do indeed thrive at the library. With that in mind, we will be collecting for our area Red Cross (Between Heart and Hand video) in order to support local efforts and to assist our neighbors in need.
The library has collection cans for the Change a Life campaign. This is a most worthy service for our community and for our neighbors facing difficult situations.
We will deliver the cans (full of change) to the Red Cross in Woodstock on April 16. Thank you for supporting National Library Week while helping our chosen community organization, the Red Cross, thrive.

Northern VA Daily Holiday Book Drive
Once again, our fabulous students and staff joined together to collect 200 new children's and young adult books for the Northern Virginia Daily Holiday Book Drive. The books will be distributed to community children that would not otherwise have the opportunity to purchase a new book. We have participated in this event for several years and each year the generous support of our school community is overwhelming.

131 Boxes of Cereal!
Strasburg High School collected 131 boxes of cereal. The boxes were packed on a truck this morning and are headed to the Compassion Cupboard, a food pantry in Strasburg. Our school community is indeed a giving and generous group of students and staff.
Thanks to all who were part of this successful community event.
