Teen Council Community Service

The Strasburg High School Teen Council has been involved in a number of community service projects such as:
  1. In 2009, 126 boxes of cereal were delivered to the Compassion Cupboard in Strasburg, VA.
  2. The Teen Council collected 233 new books for the Northern VA Daily Holiday Book Drive (Dec. 2008). The Council is involved with this collection every year.
  3. Strasburg High School students have filled 33 boxes with toiletries, food and snack items to send to our troops. The boxes wre delivered to the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home who paid to ship the boxes.

  4. In 2007 Teen Council delivered seven large boxes full of food to the Compassion Cupboard.

  5. The Council has on several occassions, collected and delivered supplies to the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter.

  6. The Teen Council helped the Strasburg Chamber of Commerce stuff 500 envelopes and worked
with members of the Art Club to serve refreshments at the Strasburg Christmas Parade.

  7. The Teen Council collected T-shirts for soldiers at the Walter Reed Medical Center. The average stay for soldiers recuperating at Walter Reed is one year. Often they arrive with little more than what is on their back. The students and staff of Strasburg High School showed their support by donating 155 T-shirts.

  8. In recognition of National Volunteer Week students from the Leo Club, Teen Council, and the FCCLA planted several acres of potatoes at the Volunteer Farm in Woodstock on April 21, 2007.

  9. The "Ben's Box" project collected items that were sent to the 7th Transportation Battalion stationed in Baghdad. We collected enough items to ship four large boxes.
